Sushi Tei – Chifley Square
Thursday, 26 Mar 09
Really, the only reason I’m posting…is because this aburi salmon roll was pretty!
That’s not to imply that Sushi Tei is in any way inadequate – we enjoyed it greatly, and will happily visit again, possibly earlier in the lunch hour to try their sushi train, which was looking sparse by the time we got to it. There’s just not enough content to make a detailed review when I’m supposed to be studying – we ordered mostly a la carte and in large quantities for two people, which limited the number of items (an advantage for the bloggers who go out in larger groups).
The sashimi was fresh, firm and flavoursome, as to be expected. The kitsune udon also went down well, a unami-filled soup and sweetly savoury inari skins….
We loved the Aburi Sushi Roll – it had soft-shell crab (always a favourite) and the bursting flying fish roe enlivens each piece…
…but really, while the food is great, life is all about the tiny blissful moments spent with someone you care about…and the quiet enjoyment of how pretty life can be. =)

I love salmon aburi mmmmmm and that one sure does look tasty! I heard Sushi Tei was only mediocre but I should try the aburi haha. Would you say it is the best you had in Syd?

I don’t know much about the names of sushi except that it’s all sushi to me and very tasty too! Looks delicious and yes I have to agree, it has been made to appear very pretty!

FFichiban: Hmm…I’ll have to visit again before I can rate it – Didn’t have all that much sushi =) We did enjoy the tuna inari and the corn nigiri though – a little different from what we usually have

Awww, looking at pretty things makes life good! Back to Sushi Tei, though, I used to go every week (about a year ago) before I realised the food was pretty average. Maybe it’s time to give it another go.
