Blueberry Cheesecake

what do i do, do i do with a love that won’t, that won’t sit still, won’t do what it’s told…?
Much to Tim’s dismay, he is quickly being supplanted by my ever increasing love of cheesecake. This was for my Aunt/second mother’s birthday, and I wanted it to be perfect, which of course meant fretting over it and worrying the base would not come off the pan.
Unlike last time, I used a plain biscuit and flavoured it with a homemade blueberry coulis, some of which went into a third of the batter to be swirled through in some funky looking patterns. More of it was carefully spooned on top in concentric circles, with a toothpick used to drag out the pattern.
Ms Jen and I both agree that it looks so much prettier uncooked! But then, that could just be a by-product of the lighting…

To this!
Using as simple a set up as this. I borrowed a whiteboard and some A3 sheets of paper, along with a study lamp to make a vague sort of lightbox, given it wasn’t quite bright enough outside. I love the warmth and lilac colours brought out in it. The cake was a hit, setting despite my fears and everyone oohed and aahed over the presentation!
oh if you knew, just what a fool you have made me….

I love feathering effects on cakes and you did yours perfectly! :o Good job at making your own lightbox-will definitely need it with the end of Daylight Savings :(

Pretty! (I think I use this word too often on your blog, hrmm). I only think it’s prettier before its been baked ’cause the colors are sharper and more defined, though. :)

I have to admit to being partial to a good cheesecake and this one looks lovely. Clever work on the decoration and sneaky lighting tricks too!
It could also be good as a raspberry version, perhaps with a chocolate biscuit base?
