Food Bloggers Christmas Picnic
Monday, 14 Dec 09
Food-bloggers are an elusive, but distinct species. Being a Hunger-type, making a distinctive clicking sound and having attacks such Flash and Devour, you would think that a flock numbering over 40 would be easily found in the relatively small region of Hyde Park…
Alas, the Pokedex (ala, me) was having a bad day with directions and mistook the Hyde Park Fountain for the rather more..still.. Pool of Reflection. We suspected an equally lost-looking denizen of the footpath was one such member of the food blogger species and surreptitiously tried-not-to-look-like-stalkers when following Jacq (we think it was you, even though we only determined this from your name tag, as we didn’t get the chance to say hi!!) to the pre-planned location.
We were met with a beautiful sight…
The food bloggers were also very attractive ;), but alas, some are rather camera-shy, so I’ll play it safe and not reveal their identities. Some, in particular, went to the extent of masking themselves…
Apart from the food, the other main event was the Kris Kringle…which had a catch. We drew numbers to determine the order in which we could choose a gift, but once you had opened it, it was fair game for anyone who was after you in the drawing to choose your gift!
Being number 34 meant I had the pick of other people’s hoarded presents…but I was nice…and pleasantly intrigued by my own selection – a Froot Guard!
This will hopefully protect many an apple from the dangerous confines of my handbag (spot the cupcake I snuck away at the end of the picnic!)
There were over 50 foodbloggers there (47 took part in the Kris Kringle game, and I know more came and left before we played) and certainly the biggest foodblogger meet I’ve been to. The food was all sumptuous, and the company both informative and entertaining. It was great catching up with people who I’ve met before, as well as meeting a lot of newer bloggers who I hadn’t had the pleasure of discovering or meeting previously. Let’s do it again soon! Thanks so much for organising, Suze and Helen!
Gotta catch them all…
Some more foodie highlights follow after the jump.
