Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens. Graffiti painted walls and fingerless mittens. Warm donuts sprinkled in cinnamon….these are a few of my favourite things.

Before the first semester started, Tim, The Bestie and the BB (“Bestie’s Boyfriend”) decided to take a whirlwind trip down to Melbourne because we realised the Bestie had never been on a domestic flight since her arrival in Australia. Naturally, that involved upgrading to First class so we could arrive there in style ;)

I’ve never been to Melbourne CBD for leisure before, and I quickly discovered that one of my favourite things to do there was to enjoy leisurely brunches in its amazing cafes. Hardware Societe was one such example, where we woke up late, wandered down to the nearest tram stop and found a culinary gem….(previously researched on other food blogs, of course!)

Hot chocolate – with real chocolate and the most divine little donut to ever grace the time-space continuum.

Mushroom omelette

However, it also has a big minus – soft viagra http://canterburymewscooperative.com/item-3860 a high price. One important thing keeps a doctor s prescription before viagra 25 mg going to the chemist. Men of all ages will probably have a bout of impotence at different stages of their life buy sildenafil without prescription from a wide range. Of course one should consult pharmacist or medical practitioner before you decide to purchase Vardenafil buy canada levitra for erectile dysfunction.

The BB ordered a mushroom omelette, which came fragrant with the smell of truffle oil. We barely heard a word from him, so it must have been great.

This was the special of the day, duck confit accompanied by a pave of mushrooms and two poached eggs. A more moreish, savory, breakfast you will never find. The duck melted off the bone with a touch of the fork whilst Tim passed off his eggs to me and kept more of the mushrooms to himself!

Of course, just to be contrary, I went the opposite route and took the sweeter path, instead of the savoury. An outright amazing panfried brioche, smothered in rich creme brulee custard (complete with burnt sugar!) and scattered with juicy blackberries and passionfruit, I found myself reluctant to share. I’m drooling at the memory…

The Hardware Societe is located at 120 Hardware Street, Melbourne, VIC 3000. (9078 5992). We visited early this year, and so the daily specials (duck confit and brioche) change often. In fact, when we went back in between semesters, we had a different special (cured salmon, poached egg, asparagus and confit potatoes) which was equally amazing. Wonder what we’ll have next time?

  3. The donuts here are freaking amazing! I actually asked if they sold them on their own without the coffee but sadly they do not :( The fried brioche is always winner and I love that it’s a constant on their menu, except the toppings change according to the season.
